Is free enrichment always free? Revisiting ad hoc-concept construction

چکیده
In relevance-theoretic pragmatics, lexical adjustment, or ad hoc-concept construction, is considered a case of free pragmatic enrichment. It hence included within the group non-linguistically mandated processes that are automatically carried out during comprehension. Its output an inferentially-specified representation conceptual content encoded, activated, by open-class words like nouns, adjectives, verbs adverbs. Ad construction necessary step to obtain fully propositional, truth-evaluable form captures in more precise manner portion meaning speaker communicates explicitly. However, this paper argues process needs not always be described as completely exempt from linguistic mandate: it may sometimes enacted and steered series elements. These fall two categories: (i) evaluative morphemes some items receive languages, (ii) phrasal adjacent words. elements would finetune representations arising regards specific, contextdependent features shades. Moreover, they could add such information about speaker's attitude towards, stance about, what speakers refer to. Therefore, derived implicatures.

GPS-free mobility metrics for mobile ad hoc networks
Efficient mobility metrics are necessary for mobile ad-hoc networks to measure the impact of node mobility on performance. Normally, measuring mobility requires the use of complex localization systems. In this paper, we propose a new mobility metric, the intra-vicinity dependency, for performance measurements. Its main novelty is that it can fully capture the relative motions between a node and...
متن کاملCapacity scaling in free-space-optical mobile ad hoc networks
Wireless networking has conventionally been realized via radio frequency (RF) based communication technologies. Main issue with RF networks is that end-to-end pernode throughput approaches zero as new nodes are added to the network. To overcome this throughput problem, we propose a multi-element optical antenna design that successfully exploits spatial reuse of the shared medium. In this design...
متن کاملCollision-Free Asynchronous Multi-Channel Access in Ad Hoc Networks
In this paper, we present a collision-free asynchronous multi-channel access protocol for Ad Hoc wireless networks using a single transceiver. Our protocol, dubbed AMMAC for Asynchronous Multi-channel Medium Access Control, targets low-cost and low-power deployments where nodes are equipped with a single transceiver. Other distinguishing features of AM-MAC include its simplicity and the fact th...
متن کاملSensor-free route stability metric for mobile ad hoc networks
The hop count routing metric is widely used in conventional ad hoc routing protocols due to its simplicity and effectiveness. With a lower hop count route, fewer transmissions are required to send a packet from the source to the destination. This can improve the network throughput because fewer transmissions results in less channel contention and interference. In spite of this, the hop count ro...
متن کاملObstacle-free geocasting protocol for ad hoc wireless networks
Mobile Ad Hoc networks (MANET) comprise mobile hosts in a network bereft of base stations and characterized by a highly dynamic network topology. The MANET environment contains unpredictable obstacles, such as mountains, lakes, buildings, or regions without any hosts, impeding or blocking message relay. This study proposes geocasting protocol for sending short message from a source host to a ge...
